The unexpected collaboration between Mieskuoro Huutajat and Carolyn Carlson began at the Venice Biennale in 2001. Since then, the artists have worked together in cities including Paris, Palermo and Roubaix. For the closing duet Rage, Carolyn Carlson commissioned a score from Petri Sirviö in early 2025. The title and themes of the first draft prompted discussion, leading to a more restrained second version. Carlson ultimately asked Huutajat to restore the sounds of rage, fear and anger alongside the quieter passages. Premiered at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris in summer 2025, the work has since toured Europe successfully with a recorded soundtrack. In Oulu, it will be performed for only the second time with the choir singing live. Opening the evening, Mieskuoro Huutajat will perform a specially commissioned mini-concert created for the occasion. Duration: 1h15 min
