John Boswell

John Boswell is a musician, songwriter and composer. He studied drums at the school of the famous drummer Kenny Claire in London, where he played in jazz and rock bands.

In Benares (India), he spent eight years learning Tabla and Mridang percussion with masters Pandit Kishan Maharaj and Pandit Amarnath Mishra, as well as singing with Pandit Bolénath Mishra. He has accompanied the masters Pandit Ram Narayan, Ustads Farriduddin and Moihiuddin Dagar.

In Paris, he discovered contemporary dance with Carolyn Carlson at the GRTOP (Groupe de Recherche Théâtrale de l'Opéra de Paris), with whom he began a long collaboration. He works and composes music for numerous choreographers: Peter Goss, Karine Waehner, Régine Chopinot, Suzon Holtzer, Marie Claude Pietragallia, Jean Pierre Parrault....

He collaborates with Jean-Paul Auboux and Alain Kremski on music for storyteller Bruno Delasalle.

He is assistant to composer Armand Amar for film scores by Costa Gavras, Eric Valli and Yann Arthus Bertrand, and artistic director of the Majnun et Leila Oratorio.

Professor of Traditional Percussion, he teaches at the Good Planet Foundation, the Cité de la Musique and the Philharmonie de Paris.

Every year he accompanies Carolyn Carlson in her Master class at the Atelier de Paris.
