Solo - Création 2024
Carolyn Carlson met Tero Saarinen in the early 1990s when she was invited to choreograph for the Finnish National Ballet in Helsinki (Maa, 1991). Impressed by the dancer's charisma and technique, she chose him again in 1998 to join the cast of Dall Interno produced by Théâtre de la Ville, and at the same time created her first solo for him, Travelling. This was soon followed by Man in a Rooma solo inspired by the painter Mark Rothko and produced by the Venice Biennale in 2000.
In 2008, Carolyn Carlson revisits her legendary solo Blue Lady and entrusted Tero Saarinen with its interpretation. Blue Lady [Revisited] successfully toured the world between 2008 and 2013.
Carolyn Carlson and Tero Saarinen share a Finnish soul of distance from reality, unpredictability and irony. This new solo, produced by Tero Saarinen's company, pays tribute to the long and fruitful relationship between these two remarkable artists.
"Room 7 is an exploration of the human psyche where mysteries unfold without explanation. Tero embodies a multitude of archetypes, offering a journey through the tragic, absurd, and myriad mind games that shape our perceptions. Surrender to the present moment as the mind sweeps away illusions and embraces the ever-changing tides of existence. Through visual poems crafted by us both, Room 7 offers an experience where art speaks directly to the soul." Carolyn Carlson
