Solo performance. Created June 2010, Festival June Events, Paris
A beating heart, propelling life into a body that in turn undulates and twirls. Mandala fascinates the spectator with its hypnotic rhythm, aptly accompanied by Michael Gordon's powerful music.
To the circle of the ensō, which symbolizes both the universe and the perfect artistic gesture, can also be added the reference to crop circles, the circular motifs that appear in cereal fields. Geometric manifestations of mysterious origins, they appear as messages emitted by a force of the spirit, perhaps from elsewhere, and seem to remind us of the part of the unknown that remains all around us.
Sara Orselli gives shape to this solo, which represents the culmination of the complicity forged over more than a decade with Carolyn Carlson.
